Galyna Omelchenko-Aghaie Koohi

Dr. Galyna Omelchenko-Aghaie Koohi is an accomplished musicologist, soprano, and educator with a rich international background and over 15 years of teaching and performing experience. She holds a Ph.D. in Art Studies from the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music, with a specialization in the evolution of the European solo cantata. Her academic and artistic journey has taken her through Ukraine, Iran, and now Canada, where she continues to share her expertise with students of all ages.
Galyna has served as an Associated Professor at Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University and taught in various music institutions, including Shiraz Art University. She is a passionate instructor in piano and voice, currently teaching at Melorin Music School and Inspire Music Academy. Her teaching approach blends deep academic knowledge with a warm and inspiring presence, helping students develop not only technical skill but also a strong emotional connection to music.
As a soloist, Galyna has performed extensively with the Chamber Ensemble named after Ignacy Felix Dobzhinsky and continues to be active in concert projects across Canada, including "Music Without Borders" and "Qashqai Music Concert." She is also the founder and conductor of the Shiraz Chamber Orchestra “Chanli Kyuch,” where she composes and arranges music that bridges cultures.
Fluent in Ukrainian, English, Persian, and Turkic, Galyna brings a global perspective to her lessons and believes in nurturing each student’s unique voice and musical identity. Her commitment to excellence and creativity makes her a valued member of the Melorin Music School faculty.
