Ph.D. in Art Studies | Piano, Vocal Instructor & Conductor
Dr. Galyna Omelchenko-Aghaie Koohi is an accomplished musicologist, soprano, conductor, and educator with a rich international background and over 15 years of teaching and performing experience. She holds a Ph.D. in Art Studies from the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music, specializing in the evolution of the European solo cantata. Her academic and artistic journey spans Ukraine, Iran, and Canada, where she continues to inspire students and audiences alike.
Galyna has served as an Associate Professor at Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University and has taught at several music institutions, including Shiraz Art University. She is a dedicated piano and voice instructor and is currently teaching at Melorin Music School and Inspire Music Academy. Her pedagogical approach combines strong academic foundations with artistic sensitivity, guiding students toward both technical excellence and expressive depth.
In addition to her work as a performer and educator, Galyna is an experienced conductor, composer, and arranger. From 2018 to 2021, she collaborated closely with the Shiraz Chamber Orchestra “Chanli Kyuch” as Composer, Arranger, and Conductor, creating original works inspired by Qashqai folk melodies. Her work with orchestras and choirs in both rehearsal and studio settings led to the production of a CD featuring her original compositions. She is also the founder and conductor of the Shiraz Chamber Orchestra “Chanli Kyuch,” through which she actively bridges cultural traditions through music.
As a soprano soloist, Galyna has performed with the Chamber Ensemble named after Ignacy Felix Dobzhinsky and remains actively involved in concert projects across Canada, including “Music Without Borders” and “Qashqai Music Concert.”
Fluent in Ukrainian, English, Persian, and Turkic, Galyna brings a truly global perspective to her teaching and conducting. She is deeply committed to nurturing each student’s unique musical identity and expressive voice, making her a valued and inspiring member of the Melorin Music School faculty.
