The Tar is a long-necked, waisted string instrument with deep historical and cultural roots in Iran, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Georgia, and Central Asia. The word “Tar” literally means “string”, and each region has developed its own variation of the instrument.
In Iranian music, the Tar is essential for both solo performance and ensemble accompaniment. Its rich tone and dynamic range make it one of the most sought-after instruments in traditional Persian music.
We provide private one-on-one Tar lessons in 30-, 45-, and 60-minute formats. All lessons are taught by experienced instructors with deep knowledge of Iranian music and pedagogy.
