Matin Kakavand
Children’s Music & Santur Instructor
Matin Kakavand is an experienced music educator with over a decade of teaching experience and more than 20 years of performance expertise. A passionate and creative instructor, she specializes in early childhood music education and santur instruction, inspiring students to explore music through imagination, rhythm, and creativity.
Throughout her career, Matin has taught at various institutions in both Iran and Canada, including Arfa Academy of Music, Bluemoon Academy, and Toronto Zen Music. She has designed and delivered engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that help children build strong musical foundations while fostering joy and curiosity in learning.
Beyond the classroom, Matin has led numerous workshops and cultural events such as Little Brown Tulip Bulbs, HAN & YOS GNER PLAYED WITH MUSIC? at the Tirgan Festival, and the Panjeraye Roo Be Roya Grand Concert. Her workshops blend music, movement, and crafting to create immersive, multi-sensory learning experiences for children.
As a performer, she has appeared in concerts across Canada, including performances with the Hourakhsh Traditional Music Band at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Arts, and live broadcasts on Seda-ye Iran TV.
Matin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Software Engineering and has completed the Orff certification program at the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Oscar Peterson School of Music. Her dedication to nurturing creativity, confidence, and cultural appreciation through music continues to inspire her students every day.
