Ramin Mazaheri (Musician, Producer, Sound Engineer)
Ramin Mazaheri began his career as a sound engineer in 2001 by accepting recording orders at his home studio, which he gradually developed. His professional growth accelerated after meeting Raymond Movsessian, a renowned audio engineer, who mentored him at a professional level. This collaboration enabled Ramin to establish Baran Studio in 2005.
That same year, Ramin became increasingly active in recording successful music albums. He also worked with Raymond Movsessian as an assistant engineer at a Mohammad Reza Shajarian concert. Additionally, he recorded Naghsh-e Khial, an album by Ali Ghamsarai featuring Homayoun Shajarian as the vocalist. Around this time, Ramin collaborated with various musicians, including Mehdi Moghadam, Nariman, Amir Yal Arjomand, and Mani Rahnama.
In 2010, Baran Studio relocated to a larger facility. During this period, Ramin collaborated with Mehran Modiri on the Shookhi Kardam series. In 2011, he recorded an album alongside Mehdi Paknejad (Setar player) and Farhad Asadi (Tombak player), which was released without editing or mixing. They titled it Senavazi (“Trio”) to emphasize its raw and authentic nature. The trio later performed these pieces live at Roudaki Hall, where Ramin became the first sound engineer in Iran to appear on stage alongside the musicians, conducting microphone placement and soundchecks before a live audience.
Over his career, Ramin has worked with numerous esteemed artists and musicians, including Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, Kayhan Kalhor, Alexander Rahbari, The Kamkars, Shahram Nazeri, Behrouz Gharibpour, Mehdi Bagheri, Salar Aghili, Keyvan Kianian, Homayoun Shajarian, Kaveh Sarvarian, Hamzeh Yeganeh, Ali Shokat, Rastak Ensemble, Minus 1, Mohsen Namjoo, Hamed Behdad, Mehran Modiri, Ajam (band), Aref (singer), Reza Yazdani, Mehdi Moghadam, Mazyar Fallahi, Amir Tavassoli, Farzin Gharahgozloo, Mohammad Reza Jadidi, Mohammad Esfahani, Alireza Assar, Payam Shams, Behrouz Saffarian, and Mohammad Mobini.
Reza Abedyan, a Kamancheh player, expressed his admiration in an interview with Melody Magazine, saying: “I felt so much happiness when I heard that, for the first time, a sound engineer attended on the stage alongside instrumentalists. This profession has often been overlooked, but this moment brought it to light.”
Siamak Gholizadeh, writing for Etemad News, highlighted Ramin’s innovative work, stating: “Of course, the interesting and brilliant mix by Ramin Mazaheri cannot be ignored. The combination of electronic and rock music is rare in Iran, and this unique sound is the trump card of the band Baadzang.”
In 2017, Ramin participated in the 32nd Fajr International Music Festival's Research Section, presenting on “Sound, Recording, and Accessories.” At the same festival, Kahgel, an album by Hamzeh Yeganeh that featured Ramin’s mixing and mastering, won the Barbad Award for Best Fusion Album. In 2019, Ramin served as a jury member for the Naser Farhoudi Award.
Ramin also produced a video series titled The Sound of Music by Ramin Mazaheri, which provides insights into recording Iranian instruments.
